... or so I hope so.
As of 9:00 this morning I was finally able to get my information up on the Web. I hope that everything is done properly. If your going to ask he to reflect of the webpage itself all i can say is that is was my last final, so I am glad that it is finally over with. After a half hour on the phone with OIT we figured out my problem was that i had spelled INDEX (with capitals) instead of all lower case.
For this internship as a whole, i feel that i gained alot from it, and i am glad to have done this. The one thing that it has shown me is that there is no real specific job that zeros in on the PWE education. Unless you go directly into writing or editing the skills i have learned gettin my PWE minor seem to mesh well in any working environment, and are most appreciated by those who may not be as confident writing and editing their own work.
Anyhow, the adress for my site is [http://community.wvu.edu/~sas043] also, Prof. Wible, i have dropped off a blue slip in your mail box (or i will have by around noon today) sorry this is late but i hope you can still get that filled out in time or graduation for me. Oh, and thanks for puttin up with all my B.S. this past semester.

Projects Almost Complete
So, recently i was able to talk to Dr. Steele again about the student handbook, and my presentation the other week. For the most part she seems pleased with my work, and spare a handful of final revisions i should be able to turn over a copy of the handbook within the next week. As she told me the department would take responsibility for finishing it, and filling in the remaining gaps and sections specific faculty members originally wish to compose themselves.
Today i believe i will meet with Dr. Wible around 2:30 to begin work on the website, should i be able to get that out of my way a bit earlier then the night before it is due that should help keep me sane.

Finished Poster
Fortunately i managed to finish and turn in my poster on time, i also managed to rearrange the student handbook according to what we talked about during out meeting on Monday. Although i have turned it in i know there is still much that needs to be done, but it is still a work in progress and i can only work as fast as the materials are provided to me. I hope things will go well tonight, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't a bit worried about what my final grade will be

Poster Presentation
After furiously working for the past few days I have been able to finally complete the rough draft of the Sociology and Anthropology department's Student Handbook. Though i feel i have accomplished much i fear that upon grading it will be viewed harshly. There are still a handful of blank sections, but since faculty want to write these sections i can do nothing more then handle everything else, and allow them to work at their pace. That aside though this handbook will probably not go into use any earlier then the begining of the fall semester which means they have all the time in the world to write their sections.
Finally, tonight i plan to begin working on the poster presentation part of this assignment. Though i am not worried about getting this done it will take some time to do so in a tasteful manner. Also, hopefully after the completion of tonights First annual Career Day, i will be able to talk one of the profs. into letting me into the office to collect a bit more materials, along with getting them to glance over the handbook before i begin using parts of it for the presentation.

Student Handbook (cont.)
Once again i found myself spending yet another late night working on getting the student handbook together. For the most part everything seems to be going well, though i am not sure as to how i want to arrange a couple of the sections. For now i think i will just write them and once everything is written i can print it out and then step back and make a decision. Next wednesday, right before the presentation for my internship is due i will hopefully get a last little bit of information needed for the completion of what they expect me to do for the internship. As of now, all i can think of is that next wednesday (the 23rd) is going to be one long night, but everything will get done.

Student Handbook
So work on the student handbook's rough draft is progressing fairly smoothly. I've just recently recieved approval for how i wrote the first section of it and within the next few days i plan to have the remaining sections written. I find this a bit of an odd project because alot of the information being placed into the handbook seems repetative but for the intended purposes of the handbook, and the web pages i have been working on this should only be noticable to people like myself who are directly working on both the internet and the handbook.

Begining of Student Handbook
I know i'm starting this project late but only now are the materials becoming fully available that i need from everyone else within the department.
I'm still waiting on a few documents, but other then that i should have a fairly decent product by the time i am done with this. Unfortunately i feel that i may not have it totally complete by the time our posters are due for presentation which worries me. Furthermore, I feel like it will not show my ability as at best i will be compeleting a rought draft for the department to further work with and improve on as both the introductory course for future Soca, and CI students evolves.

Thursday 3-20-08
As of yesterday I have begun working on the second main part of my internship. Recently I have had to deal with the setback of the begining of registration/advising for the upcoming summer and fall semesters.
Over break, which I am not to thrilled about, I plan to start putting together a rough draft for the departments new Sociology/Anthropology/Criminology Student Handbook. Though this doesn't seem too difficult I plan to draw upon what is currently available online from other universities for ideas as far as layout and design.
As for now that is all, but as this project progresses I should have a great deal more to talk about in the next few weeks.

Friday 2-15-08
Today not too much got accomplished with my internship, which I found to be frustrating. The only work i managed to do was go through the existing website and look for errors, bad links, and outdated material. Surprisingly I found a decent handful of expired information, which for the time being i went onto the website and took down. I was unable to put up the correct information today as the faculty member sponsoring my internship was not there to give me permission to do so.
On the bright side though having completed this small task i am now aware of specific pages that need to be fixed, recreated, or just brought up to date with the current semester.
As a meeting is starting i will cut this off here for now

This past Friday the new parts of the website that I wrote were put online finally. Over the weekend to my dismay I caught a whole bunch of mistakes which I was able to take care of this morning when I got into the office. Furthermore over the weekend Dr. Steele recomended some further changes to layout which feel were beneficial to the layout of the website. Finally before this week is out I will have to erase information that is now out-of-date, and replace this information with new information as it becomes available.
So far though, in reflection, everything seems to be going ok. There have been a few minor set-backs and it's fairly frustrating because as i am writing the new pages i have to accommodate and think of what other additional pages will be added before they are ever created. So, it forces brainstorming, and proper planning, but at this early stage everything just seems so iffy and everything could be subject to change as the project progresses.

Sunday 2-3-08
Though this post is a little late, I feel that it is important to write it anyhow. This past friday
I spent the day working on my project. Also I found that as things currently stand, the freshly re-qritten parts of the department's wep page should be going online within the next weeks time. Also I spent a good deal of time working on handouts for Dr. Steele's Soca 199 handouts. Unfortunately I finish re-writing the Criminology Handout, hopefully I will be able to finish the Sociology handout before they're due around 12:30 tomorrow afternoon. If not, she said the old ones would suffice for one more day.
Futhermore another difficulty I have come across deals with the group meetings hosted over e-campus chat. I feel that they are overly long, drawn out, and that because of this they are a waste of my time. Hopefully I will be able to join one of the groups that meets in a face-to-face manner, which would make me alot more comfortable with these meetings.
