Poster Presentation

After furiously working for the past few days I have been able to finally complete the rough draft of the Sociology and Anthropology department's Student Handbook. Though i feel i have accomplished much i fear that upon grading it will be viewed harshly. There are still a handful of blank sections, but since faculty want to write these sections i can do nothing more then handle everything else, and allow them to work at their pace. That aside though this handbook will probably not go into use any earlier then the begining of the fall semester which means they have all the time in the world to write their sections.

Finally, tonight i plan to begin working on the poster presentation part of this assignment. Though i am not worried about getting this done it will take some time to do so in a tasteful manner. Also, hopefully after the completion of tonights First annual Career Day, i will be able to talk one of the profs. into letting me into the office to collect a bit more materials, along with getting them to glance over the handbook before i begin using parts of it for the presentation.

Great -- I'm glad that you were able to get to the poster presentation with a few days' buffer to give you time to put together a nice presentation.

In terms of the "blank" spots in the handbook -- if and where they appear in the materials in your portfolio, simply note that fact in your contextual/reflective statements and mention the kinds of materials that might appear there (if it seems important to do so). You might also reflect on the process of managing such a project where you are dependent on other people to provide you with materials.

It really sounds like they are giving you a lot of trust and responsibility for this student handbook. I'm sure having that much power over a project is stressful, but also rewarding. They obviously trust your opinion and abilities. Giving you this project, in itself is a huge compliment! The only thing that would bother me is the fact you don't get to see it through to completion. That is the only downfall to being an intern for only a semester. But congratulations on the work you've done, it sounds as though you are doing a fantastic job!
